Pecan Delights
 
1. In a large saucepan, combine: 
2 1/4 c. packed brown sugar 
1 c. butter 
1 c. light corn syrup 
1/8 t. salt 
2. Cook over medium heat until all sugar is dissolved. 
3. Gradually add: 
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 
4. Mix well. 
5. Continue cooking until candy thermometer reads 248 degrees (F). 
(firm-ball stage) 
6. Remove from heat. 
7. Stir in: 
1 t. vanilla 
8. Fold in: 
1 1/2 lbs. whole pecans 
9. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. 
10. Chill until firm. 
11. In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt: 
1 c. milk chocolate chips 
2 T. shortening 
12. Drizzle over each cluster. 
Yield: about 4 dozen.

 Good friends are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget.
