Hamburger Stew, CP

2 lbs ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
2 cups tomato juice
2 to 3 carrots, thinly sliced
2 to 3 ribs of celery, sliced
half a green pepper, chopped ***
2 cups green beans
2 medium potatoes, cubed****
2 cups water
1 tbs. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. dried basil
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
dash of hot pepper sauce
2 tbs. dried onion soup mix - or
1 beef bouillon cube
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. fresh ground black pepper

Notes:
I sometimes will also add one-half a red pepper
just for flavor and some color.

I sometimes will use 1 cup barley instead of the
     potatoes

Brown the meat and the onion in a Dutch oven or a deep
fry pan. Drain.
Stir in the garlic and the tomato juice. Heat this to
boiling.
Combine all the ingredients in the slow cooker. Pour
the tomato juice mixture over all.
Cover. Cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours.
