Jessica Simpson Appearing on The View

Jessica Simpson will be discussing her move to country music during an 
appearance Wednesday (June 25) on ABC's The View. Simpson is expected to talk 
about
her upcoming country album and perform the project's debut single, "Come On 
Over," which has climbed to No. 27 on Billboard's country singles chart. She
co-wrote the song with Rachel Proctor and Victoria Banks. Simpson's album, set 
for release in September, was produced by John Shanks and Brett James.

Reckless Kelly, Mark Chesnutt Among Independent Releases

Reckless Kelly and hitmaker Mark Chesnutt are among the artists releasing new 
albums this week on independent record labels. Arriving in stores Tuesday
(June 24), Reckless Kelly's Bulletproof (Yep Roc) showcases 14 original songs. 
Among them is "God Forsaken Town," which lead singer Willy Braun co-wrote
with Robert Earl Keen. ... Chesnutt's Rollin' With the Flow (Lofton Creek) 
includes his current single, "When You Love Her Like Crazy." One of the 
highlights
is "She Never Got Me Over You," written by Hank Cochran, Dean Dillon and the 
late Keith Whitley. ... Other new, independent releases include Luke Doucet's
Blood's Too Rich (Six Shooter), the Hacienda Brothers' Arizona Motel (Proper), 
a self-titled release from the Road Hammers (Montage Music Group) and the
Watson Twins' Fire Songs. New bluegrass releases include Crooked Still's Still 
Crooked (Signature Sounds), Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass' The Room
Over Mine (Rounder) and Junior Sisk & Rambler's Choice's Blue Side of the 
Mountain (Rebel).

Ricky Skaggs Records Bluegrass Versions of His Country Hits

Ricky Skaggs has recorded bluegrass versions of his best-known country hits for 
The High Notes, a new album to be sold exclusively at Cracker Barrel Country
Stores. With roots in bluegrass, Skaggs was one of the most successful artists 
in mainstream country music during the '80s. The 12 tracks on The High Notes
include 10 of the No. 1 hits he first recorded for Epic Records. Among the 
titles are "Crying My Heart Out Over You," "Heartbroke," "Highway 40 Blues,"
"I Wouldn't Change You If I Could," "Cajun Moon" and "Country Boy." The new CD 
will be available on July 1.
