Trace Adkins Named Honorary Chair of Food Allergy Walk Wed. June 25.2008 4:43 PM EDT
Trace Adkins will serve as the national honorary chair of the 2008 Walk for Food Allergy event which will be held in 26 cities in the fall, as well as online. Adkins became involved with the Food Allergy & Anaphalaxis Network (FAAN) after one of his daughters was diagnosed with an allergy to peanuts. "Millions of school-age children are afflicted with food allergies in this country, and the numbers are increasing each year. Much more research funds are needed to find out what is causing this problem and how we can fix it. With the help of thousands of walkers and volunteers nationwide, we can hopefully raise more money to help find a cure," Adkins said. CMA Songwriters Series Continues in New York City Wed. June 25.2008 4:43 PM EDT The CMA Songwriters series will return to New York City, beginning with a concert at Joe's Pub on July 17. Featured writers include Dave Berg (Rodney Atkins' "If You're Going Through Hell"), Jedd Hughes (Josh Gracin's "Stay With Me [Brass Bed]"), Karyn Rochelle (Kellie Pickler's "I Wonder") and Chris Tompkins (Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats"). Additional performances in the series are scheduled for Sept. 9 and Oct. 29-30. Rissi Palmer Joins IMG Models Wed. June 25.2008 4:43 PM EDT Country singer Rissi Palmer has signed a deal with IMG Models, home to models such as Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum, Selma Blair and Mischa Barton. IMG Models will represent her for global endorsement opportunities. Palmer, who lives in Nashville, released her debut country album last year. Her newest single is "No Air," and she recently filmed the video in the Turks and Caicos Islands with director Kristin Barlowe.
