CREAM FILLING FOR CAKE
Bake yellow or chocolate cake in two 9x9 inch pans. Let cool.
FILLING:
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. flour
Cook until thick. Cool. In a mixing bowl, add 1/4 cup vegetable
shortening, 1/4 cup butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat 4 minutes.
Add cooled milk and flour mixture. Beat 4 more minutes.
Split cakes, remove top layer and spread about 1/4 inch of cream filling
on bottom layer; replace top. Can be frozen. My kids always loved these.
