American Idol's Kristy Lee Cook Signs With Arista Nashville

Kristy Lee Cook, a finalist on American Idol's seventh season, has signed a
record deal with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville, a label under the Sony BMG
Nashville umbrella. Her first single, "15 Minutes of Shame," is expected in
August, with an album produced by songwriter Brett James to be released in
the fall. "I've wanted this for so many years," Cook said. "To have the chance
to be a country singer, to make the music I love and to have enjoyed the
support of so many American Idol fans this past season, it all means more than
I can put into words. Thank you so much to everyone. I'll do my best to
make you proud!" Fellow Idol contestants Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood
are also on the Sony BMG roster in conjunction with 19 Recordings.
Sugarland Plan Tour With Kellie Pickler, Ashton Shepherd

Sugarland have announced plans for their Love on the Inside tour, which will
begin Sept. 13 in Asheville, N.C. The duo will be joined by Kellie Pickler
and new artist Ashton Shepherd ("Takin' Off This Pain") on most dates. The
25-city tour will conclude on Nov. 16 in Bossier City, La. Sugarland will
release
a deluxe edition of their new album, also titled Love on the Inside, on July
22, with a regular edition to follow on July 29.
Cross Canadian Ragweed, Kathy Mattea Join Americana Festival

Cross Canadian Ragweed, Kathy Mattea and Tim O'Brien have been announced as
performers at the Americana Music Festival and Conference on Sept. 17-20 in
Nashville. Marcia Ball, Band of Heathens, Folk Uke and Langhorne Slim have also
been added to the lineup. Previously announced performers include James
McMurtry, Jason & the Scorchers, the Belleville Outfit, Jim White, Paul Thorn,
the SteelDrivers and the Snake the Cross and the Crown.
Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus Sing at Skate Festival

Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus performed at a Nashville-area skate festival on
Sunday (June 29) to honor Alex LaVasseur, the late son of songwriter Jeffrey
Steele. LaVasseur, 13, was killed in an ATV accident last year. Along with the
Cyrus' surprise appearances, the memorial festival included a concert featuring
Doobie Brothers vocalist Michael McDonald. Billy Ray Cyrus is currently the
host of Nashville Star. Steele serves as a judge on the show. At the festival,
Miley Cyrus sang "Hollywood Girl," a song Steele wrote.
Dierks Bentley Battles Fans on Xbox 360's Game With Fame

Dierks Bentley is the first country artist to participate in the Xbox 360
promotion, Game With Fame, where he played Halo 3 with online fans and gamers.
Xbox Live has 12 million members worldwide. Other artists who have participated
in the game include Ludacris, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Fall Out Boy, Maroon
5, Kanye West, Korn and Velvet Revolver, as well as athletes such as Andy
Roddick, Brady Quinn, Larry Johnson and Jason Giambi.
Waylon Jennings' Band Members Form Tribute Band

Former members of Waylon Jennings' touring band have formed a tribute band,
Waymore's Outlaws, featuring singer Tommy Townsend, bass player-tour manager
Jerry "Jigger" Bridges, drummer Richie Albright, steel guitarist Fred Newell
and guitarist Eugene Moles. The band will make its debut on July 4 in Franklin,
Tenn. "We're all really excited about getting out and playing this music that
was such a big part of our lives, and I think Waylon's fans will really like
Tommy's talents and energy on stage," said Bridges. "We wouldn't do this
without the blessing of Jessi [Colter, Jennings' wife], and we plan to make her
and the entire family proud."
Country Sings Disney Features Faith Hill, Tim McGraw

A new compilation, Country Sings Disney, will feature Faith Hill, Tim McGraw
and Trisha Yearwood and will be released on July 8. The collection features
country artists singing songs from films like Bambi II (Alison Krauss, Martina
McBride) and Cars (Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts). Other artists include Bucky
Covington, Josh Gracin, Little Big Town, Bonnie Raitt, SHeDAISY and Phil
Stacey, as well as the Billy Ray Cyrus-Miley Cyrus duet, "Ready, Set, Don't Go."
