Tim McGraw will include live versions of "If You're Reading This" and "Real Good Man" on his Greatest Hits 3 album to be released on Oct. 7. The 12-track compilation also includes his collaborations with Def Leppard on "Nine Lives" (first released on the band's Songs From the Sparkle Lounge project) and his work with Tracy Lawrence and Kenny Chesney on "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" (which originally appeared on Lawrence's For the Love album). McGraw's first two greatest hits albums have sold a combined total of almost 8 million copies. Trace Adkins Heading to Persian Gulf for USO Tour Thu. August 28.2008 5:31 PM EDT Trace Adkins is planning another trip to the Persian Gulf to visit U.S. troops as part of a tour sponsored by the USO and Armed Forces Entertainment. His previous USO tour of the Persian Gulf took place in 2002, and he also headlined the entertainment at the USO World Gala in Washington, D.C. He was awarded the USO Merit Award in 2007. "I'm really humbled by the opportunity to spend more time with our nation's finest," Adkins said. "This is such an honor for me to be able to visit with our military and tell them how much we truly appreciate all the sacrifices they make for our country and our freedom." August 28.2008 5:31 PM EDT John Rich will appear with presidential candidate John McCain at rallies near Pittsburgh and St. Louis before traveling to Minneapolis to perform his original song, "Raisin' McCain," at the Republican National Convention on Sept. 3. The same day, Rich will join Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy to perform "Our America" at the convention. Rich recently introduced "Raisin' McCain" during a rally the candidate attended in Florida. He will appear at McCain rallies taking place Saturday (Aug. 30) in Washington, Pa., and Sunday (Aug. 31) in O'Fallon, Mo. John Oates Records Solo Album in Nashville Thu. August 28.2008 5:31 PM EDT John Oates, longtime member of Daryl Hall & John Oates, is awaiting the release of his second solo album, 1000 Miles of Life, featuring guest appearances by Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush, among others. Hall recorded the basic tracks in Nashville with several A-list session musicians before adding guitar tracks and vocals at a studio in Aspen, Colo. "I wanted players who knew how to frame a song, who knew how to take a lyric and enhance it," Oates said. Others appearing on the album are guitarist Steve Cropper, Blues Traveler's John Popper, the Blind Boys of Alabama and Bonnie and Bekka Bramlett. The album will be released on Sept. 23. The non-partisan event was aimed at encouraging voter registration and participation. Randy Rogers said at the beginning of the band's performance, "It's your voice, your choice. Get out there and vote." Rascal Flatts Record New Version of "Bob That Head" for College Football Wed. August 27.2008 6:01 PM EDT Rascal Flatts' "Bob That Head" has been rewritten and recorded as a new version to open each Raycom Sports telecast of ACC and SEC football for the 2008 season. Raycom owns the syndicated television rights to ACC and SEC football. Rascal Flatts also personalized a greeting to air for each conference. The original version of the song appeared on Rascal Flatts' Still Feels Good album. Lead vocalist Gary LeVox wrote the song with Michael Dulaney and Neil Thrasher. "We can't think of anything more fun and exciting than mixing two of our favorites things -- music and football," LeVox said. The new version of the song debuts Saturday (Aug. 30) when the Florida Gators host the Hawaii Warriors. Billy Currington's New Album Arrives Oct. 14 Wed. August 27.2008 6:01 PM EDT Billy Currington's third album, Little Bit of Everything, will be released on Oct. 14 by Mercury Nashville. Currington co-produced the album with Carson Chamberlain and co-wrote five of the 12 songs. He recently filmed the video for his latest single, "Don't." "People kept asking what kind of music they'd hear on this next album, whether it was going to be R&B, pop, country or rock, and I seemed to keep saying the same thing," said Currington. "It's going to be a little bit of everything, I guess." Currington has topped the country singles chart with "Good Directions" and "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right." Grammy Winners Will Honor Glen Campbell at Americana Music Conference Wed. August 27.2008 6:01 PM EDT Grammy winners Jim Lauderdale and Raul Malo are among those scheduled to honor Country Music Hall of Fame member Glen Campbell during the upcoming Americana Music Festival and Conference taking place Sept. 17-20 in Nashville. The Sept. 20 tribute at the Cannery Ballroom is one of several events being coordinated by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Nashville Public Television and the Americana Music Association. Campbell will make an appearance during the tribute that will also include performances by Jesse Dayton, Greta Gaines, Chuck Mead, Jason Ringenberg and Bryson Jones & the Sin City All Stars. Earlier in the day, Campbell will visit the museum for a Q&A session and a screening of the film, Meet Glen Campbell: A Documentary. The session coincides with the recent release of Meet Glen Campbell, an album that includes his versions of songs popularized by Tom Petty, U2, Green Day, the Velvet Underground and others. During the Americana conference, the museum will also host events featuring several other artists, including Jerry Douglas, Kathy Mattea and Carlene Carter.
