Well, my brother, Steve, this made me cry. My dog, Beau, whom I lost ten years
ago, was a border collie/Lab, and my vet at the time, rescued him because he
was sitting on the side of the road. Dr. Grimm went by Beau twice and the
third time, he got out of his truck and walked up to Beau and Beau wanted to
shake hands. Two days later, I took Beau home with me and got to have him for
ten years. He was the smartest and most loyal dog I have ever had and I have
had quite a few in my 57 years. I thought when he died, I'd never get another
dog but I already had Boomer, my Beagle/Dachshund, and he died a year ago and
was 14. Now, I have my teddy who is a Shiatsu/Jack Russell and I love him
dearly. I just keep getting a new dog when I lose one because another one
needs my love.

I feel good inside that my Beau had a wonderful happy life and all my dogs have
been loved as much as you could love a dog.

Thanks for all you post.

Subject: [RecipesAndMore] The Meaning of Rescue

  The Meaning of Rescue

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed,
I'd like to open my baggage,
  Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry,
  So much to regret.

Hmmm...Yes, there it is, right on the top,
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my perch hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave,
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.

Will you add to my baggage?
  Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things,
  And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage, to never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage,
  Will you still want me?

A single candle can illuminate an entire room. A true friend lights up
an entire lifetime. Thanks for the bright lights of your friendship.
