Then God Would Bless America Again
It's a phrase we all hear from time to time
like an echo that never goes away.
"God Bless America" is often spoken out loud
or whispered in the moments we pray.
Oh, it doesn't take much of a look around to see
that America is in need of the Lord.
We've drifted so far...so much has been broken
and so much is needing restored.
But I wonder if the core of the problem could be
in the wording of the very simple phrase.
What if we started saying, "America, Bless God"
and started seeking God in all of our ways.
What if we returned to our solid, Christian roots
because this country had a godly foundation.
What if God's people stood up against injustice
to bring the honor of God back to our nation.
What if we spoke the truth about sin in God's eyes
with courage and fire in our voices.
Then we, as a country would return to God's standards
and not call sin our personal choices.
And what if God's people truly humbled themselves
to repent of our complacency and sin.
Then our brokenness would be answered with the fire of revival
and God would bless America again.
