MOLASSES SNAPPERS
Source: The Cookbook Club Newsletter 3/4 cup shortening (part butter or oleo) 1 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup molasses 1/2 teaspoon cloves 1 egg Grated rind of orange 2 teaspoons soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon ginger 2 1/4 cups flour Cream shortening, add sugar, molasses, egg and rind. Stir in the dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Chill and mold into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in sugar, sprinkle tops with water and bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until done. They will have crackle tops.
