DANISH SPICE COOKIES
   1 cup soft butter or margarine
   1/2 cup dark-brown sugar, packed
   1/2 cup granulated sugar
   1/3 cup molasses
   2/3 cup light corn syrup
   4 1/2 cups sifted flour
   1 teaspoon salt
   1 teaspoon soda
   1 teaspoon each cinnamon and ginger
   1/2 teaspoon cloves
   Apricot preserves
   Candied-cherry halves
   Cream
 butter and sugars until light. Beat in molasses and corn syrup. Add sifted dry 
ingredients
and mix well. Chill until firm enough to roll. Roll half of dough to 1/2" 
thickness
and cut with 3"-round cutter. Roll remaining half of dough to 1/8" thickness and
cut with 3" daisy or other fancy cutter. Bake all cookies in moderate oven (375 
f).
About 8 minutes. Cool. Spread round cookies with preserves and top with fancy 
cookies.
Press a cherry half in center.
