Here's another one from "The White House Family Cookbook" Buttermilk Biscuits
3 c. sifted flour 1 tsp salt 3-1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp butter, at room temperature 1-1/4 c. buttermilk Preheat oven to dg425. Into mixing bowl sift flour, salt and baking soda. Cut in butter until evenly distributed. Gradually add 1 cup of buttermilk while lightly kneading by hand. (To ensure flaky dough do not overmix or overhandle.) Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Roll to 3/4-inch thickness. Using a 2-inch biscuit cutter, cut into rounds. Arrange rounds 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. (For softer biscuits place biscuits closer together before baking.) Brush tops with remaining 1/4 cup buttermilk. Bake on center rack for 10 minutes until biscuits have risen and tops are lightly browned. Serve warm. -- Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore
