Alan Jackson's Country Fried Steak & Gravy

1 pound cubed  steak
1/2 teaspoon meat tenderizer
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 tablespoons  flour
1/4 cup flour for "dredging"
1/2 cup cooking oil
1/4 cup chopped  onion
1 1/2 cups water

Sprinkle steak with meat tenderizer and salt.  Pound meat flat with
mallet. Dredge steaks in flour. Heat oil in pan &  when hot, brown
both sides of the steak. Remove from pan & reduce heat.  Stir in 2
tbsp. flour & dash of salt. Brown flour. Add about 1 1/2 cups  water.
Return steak to pan. Add chopped onions. Cover. Simmer on low 20 -  30
minutes. If gravy is too thick, add more water.
