Caramel Apple Cake

Cake:
1-3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1-1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1-1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
3 eggs
1-1/2 c. (2 to 3 medium) finely chopped peeled apples
1/2 to 1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. raisins, if desired

Frosting:
2 c. powdered sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 to 5 tsp milk

Heat oven to dg350. Grease and flour a 13- by 9-inch baking pan.

In large bowl combine flour, brown sugar, salt, baking powder, baking
soda, 1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 3/4 cup butter and
eggs. Beat 3 minutes with mixer at medium speed. Stir in apples,
nuts and raisins. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake 30 to 40 minutes, or until tests done. Cool completely.

In small bowl blend all frosting ingredients, adding enough milk for
desired spreading consistancy. Spread over cooled cake.

Yield 15 servings.
