Other doovers and groovers who will be there include: Ed Kuepper, Karma County, The John Butler Trio, Resin Dogs, Women in Docs & Paul Grabowski; Bob Hawke, Carmen Lawrence & others are doing forums; and there's a host of other national & international folk-type people including the usual music/dance/writing workshops, theatre, films, forums and food for mind, body & soul. ... sooo hopefully I'll see some of you there? =) cheers...Christine *who wouldn't consider being anywhere else for New Year* ... *grin* Since the inception of the Murri Programme as an entity of its own at the Maleny Folk Festival 11 years ago, the Murri Programme has expanded into three venues: the Murri Venue; the Talking Circle; and the Corroboree Grounds. The programme continues to bring new and exciting additions to the Festival each year. The Murri Programme has been instrumental in bringing to the forefront Indigenous issues, cultural song and dance, storytellers and an array of contemporary music and artists. Woodford Folk Festival has become an important gathering place for many Indigenous Australians in a way that reflects the huge gatherings that took place all over Australia before colonisation. The natural environment of the festival site lends itself so beautifully to the gathering of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people. It enriches our connections to the land and nourishes us. Songlines are the pathways that link this country; it¹s people through the spirit of song and dance. These songlines are ancient guides and connect all Aboriginal people spiritually. At the festival we bring to you a contemporary note in these songlines with our cultural practices and traditions, our stories, songs and dances, and our hearts to this place. We invite you to come and join with us as we share with you our living history.
