A Territory Health Services survey of the cost of a standard basket of food at community stores shows Aboriginal people in remote areas pay 60 per cent more than city consumers. The survey also shows they pay 80 per cent more for vegetables, and 67 per cent more for fruit. Mr Snowdon says it is unfair. "The people who are going to be most disadvantaged in Australia by this GST proposal are the people living in remote communities," he said. "They are being hit every which way.
