Dear Ministers, Senators and Political Parties,
I emplor you to respect the dignity of the UN council and deliver what the
First Australian people have been trying to obtain for so long. Recognition
of prior ownership and a constitutional per-amble that acknowledges the
Aboriginal people of this land as the Traditional First Owners.
In a time when you aspise that we are the one of the highest growing nations
in the world, the aboriginal people of this country suffer the worst
indignities that we as white people can inflict on another human being.
Aboriginal people die of curable diseases that white society take for
granted. Aboriginal people live in squalor and have to trade off land for
simple things like a kidney machine. Surely you can with your power
subject yourselves to a level of humbleness where you can deliver decent
human rights and recognition of prior ownership to this land.
Until you recognise the traditional prior owners of Australia and respect
the global communities concern over your discrimination of basic human
rights it is hard for me as white male to accept my belonging to this
country, because in denying Aboriginal people their rights you are denying
my right to live in peace with my neighbors, immigrants and people of
different nationality who have come to this country in the promise of a more
compassionate and equal life of prosperity.
