Preamble stinks like a dead cat: Qld Nationals

The Labor Party, the Australian Democrats, Aboriginal groups and many
others have gained an unlikely new ally in
objecting to John Howard's draft constitutional preamble.
Queensland National Party director Ken Crook has described the document
as stinking like a dead cat.
He's told ABC radio the preamble can't be isolated from the
constitution.
He says a preamble by definition cannot exist in a vacuum, and it's very
dangerous to tamper with a constitution.
Mr Crook says the founding fathers who drafted the constitution probably
never envisaged that elements could be
interpreted as they've been recently in some High Court decisons.
However, Queensland National Party objections to the preamble are not
universal.
Mp Bob Katter, who's often been at odds with other members of the
coalition, says he thinks the preamble's an
excellent document.
