The use of history in native title processes
The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies
Native Title Research Unit is holding a workshop for native title
practitioners examining the use of history in native title processes
The workshop will be focussed on the role of historians in preparing
native title applications and presenting evidence. The workshop aims to
draw historians together to examine the current practice and to provide a
thoughtful reflection on the issues raised for history as a discipline
and profession.
While the workshop is deliberately aimed at historians involved with
native title, as always, we encourage all NTRB's to be represented as
part of a continued commitment to skills development and national
coordination. Numbers will, however, be limited.
The workshop will be held at University House, ANU Canberra, close to
AIATSIS, on 10th and 11th May 1999.
