When writing to the SMH, make sure to date the letter and supply your full
address and phone number. Shorter letters have more chance of being published
and 200 words is the maximum they will consider in most cases.

"With the untold billions -- that's with a "b" and not a "m" -- billions of our
taxpayer moneys that have gone to the welfare of Aboriginal people (and no small
amount of that to the well-documented Aboriginal industry), a Thank-you Day for
our continuing contributions would not go astray.
Indeed, it would balance things up, and not before time. It could even speed up
the reconciliation (whatever that means in this instance) process."

End letter.
I wonder if S.A. Millar is a pseudonym for J. Howard?

S. A. Millar (Herald, May 31) would do well to remember the reason that
Aboriginal people didn't have those billions to spend on themselves is because
someone stole the source of their wealth and wellbeing - their land. The same
land that, no doubt, allows S. A. Millar to have enough wealth to live in
Kirribilli. Be grateful and pay the rent, S. A. Millar, or have the decency to
change places with those you believe are doing so well out of the 'trade'!
