The RNA show in Brisbane looks like an ideal opportunity to lobby the Queensland Cabinet on issues. Perhaps the issue of Aboriginal rights to vote in Local Government elections? -- Graham Young Phone: 61 7 3252 1470 W 61 7 3252 1471 F 0411 104 801 M Home Page: http://www.onlineopinion.com.au
Premier, HON. PETER BEATTIE 2/8/99 State Cabinet to hold historic meeting at the Ekka State Cabinet will hold an historic meeting at the Royal National Association Show in Brisbane next Monday, Premier Peter Beattie announced today. Mr Beattie said the Ekka meeting - the first to be held at the "showcase" of Queensland primary producers - would be a full Cabinet meeting. "Just as we have taken Cabinet to regional Queensland 16 times in the past year, next week we will take Government to the people of the bush when they are in Brisbane," Mr Beattie said. "There is a full agenda for the Cabinet meeting, so we will be virtually running Government from the Ekka for the day." The Cabinet meeting would be followed by Ministers visiting displays and stands throughout the showgrounds. "This will give people the chance to walk up to a Cabinet Minister and have a chat," Mr Beattie said. "There is only one way to get the people's view on what's important and that's directly from the people." CONTACT: Ron Watson 0408 779 311
