It's difficult to see the Preamble, with its reinforcement of Howard's 
pet "us" and "them" approach to Government relations with 
indigenous people, as any sort of a step forward on the path, if 
that's what it is, toward reconciliation.

Beyond the "reconciliation" clause, the Preamble is muddled, 
mawkish, way too long and utterly unfocused.  The opening 
sentence is enough to put many of us off.  What does it mean?  In 
fact, the Preamble belongs to the "oh, well, you know what I mean" 
school of writing, where vagueness is a virtue and imprecision is an 
imperative.  A quiet, uncomplicated NO for me.
