It's difficult to see the Preamble, with its reinforcement of Howard's pet "us" and "them" approach to Government relations with indigenous people, as any sort of a step forward on the path, if that's what it is, toward reconciliation. Beyond the "reconciliation" clause, the Preamble is muddled, mawkish, way too long and utterly unfocused. The opening sentence is enough to put many of us off. What does it mean? In fact, the Preamble belongs to the "oh, well, you know what I mean" school of writing, where vagueness is a virtue and imprecision is an imperative. A quiet, uncomplicated NO for me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sandy Sanders Wormhole Books 27A Main Street Upwey VIC 3158 ph/fax 61 (03) 9754 5440 WORMHOLE BOOKS science/fiction and beyond . . . . www.wormhole.com.au ------------------------------------------------------- RecOzNet2 has a page @ http://www.green.net.au/recoznet2 and is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/ To unsubscribe from this list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED], and in the body of the message, include the words: unsubscribe announce or click here mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20announce This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use."
