CODE OF CONDUCT
Respect and Protect: Kumarangk and Ngarrindjeri People
It is important that we all act in solidarity towards our goal of stopping
the bridge.
If people think we are undisciplined or aggressive, it may stop them from
joining us.
If newspapers and TV get pictures of us hitting out in frustration, they
might blame Ngarrindjeri people, or dismiss our opinions as rubbish.
Those who have been asked to help manage the peaceful demonstration will be
easily identifiable.
A ribbon will be issued to those at who have agreed to this code of conduct
and registered with the peaceful demonstration (so we can contact you when
needed).
The protest is to be non-violent. Physical and verbal abuse to police,
media or anyone else is not acceptable.

All protesters will be treated with respect and treat others with respect.

No alcohol or illegal substances should be brought to the protest.
Consumption of these substances may be used to discredit us.
Protesters should listen to and respect those who have been given the task
of managing the protest.
Protesters must take personal responsibility. This means being prepared to
deal with the consequences of their actions.

We request that you do not interact with media. There are people who have
been designated this responsibility.
Protesters are encouraged to work in pairs or friendship groups. We must
all support and look after each other. We have developed this code in order
to stop the bridge being built while maximising media coverage of our
cause. The code will help bind our community together.
Some people will want to block construction. Others may want to watch and
support. Some people may make a decision that will lead to arrest. Others
will be needed to follow them to the police station to give support, help
arrange bail, then provide transport for them back to the protest or to
their home. Being organised and disciplined will maximise our chance of
success.
Everyone can play a positive role in the protest
