Republic support shows slight rise: Newspoll

SYDNEY, Nov 2 - The latest Newspoll on the November 6 republic
Referendum shows a slight rise in
support for the Yes case, although it still trails the No case.
The Newspoll, published in today's Australian, shows the Yes
rebounding from a low of 41 per cent to 42
per cent on October 31.
It indicates that support for the No case stands at 54 per cent,
with one per cent of its two per cent drop
swinging to the Yes case and one per cent to the uncommitted
category.
The poll found that Victoria was the strongest pro-republic
state and the Yes case and females the No
case.
Support for the preamble has also slightly bounced back from 36
per cent on October 22 to 38 per cent
on October 31, although it still trails the No vote on 51 per
cent.
