SMH Stay in Touch: Our number's up Date: 04/11/99 Forget Newspoll, Nielsen and the rest of the soothsayers, insights into the Australian psyche and future vis-a-vis the republic referendum have been provided exclusively to SIT by Ms Shashi Bala Niga, a "scientific astrologer and horoscope expert" from Lucknow in India. Having studied the "transit position of planets", Ms Niga says that the republic will not get up on Saturday, but "as soon as Rahu enters Taurus sign and joins Saturn there", which will be in 2001, we will finally abandon the monarchy. "Numerology reveals that Australia is governed by number 3, year 1999 is governed by number 1. The two numbers are opponents of each other. The number of Australia matches with the year 2001 so it is predicted that Australia will become a republic in 2001." But wait, there's more. "It is further predicted that 2001 will be one of the coldest years in Australia and break all the records of past 30 years. It may also be possible that many infectious diseases and other epidemics may break out. But despite all these odds, Australia will be on the path of progress during this year only. Many new industries particularly related to exports will emerge and Australia will earn good foreign exchange." So, we will be a republic, but many of us will cark it before we can enjoy it. Still, those left will be richer. Sounds like a perfect Reith policy. ------------------------------------------------------- RecOzNet2 has a page @ http://www.green.net.au/recoznet2 and is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/ To unsubscribe from this list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED], and in the body of the message, include the words: unsubscribe announce or click here mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20announce This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use."
