:-) Aboriginal protesters disrupt Proclamation Day celebrations From AAP 28dec99 2.50pm (AEDT) ABORIGINAL protesters today disrupted Proclamation Day ceremonies in Adelaide. Lake Eyre Aborigine Kevin Buzzacott, who has been leading a protest outside Adelaide's government house for nearly a fortnight, was among a small group who presented SA governor Sir Eric Neal with a statement of claim over the land of South Australia. Mr Buzzacott draped an Aboriginal flag over the old gum tree at Glenelg, the site where the colony of South Australia was proclaimed 163 years ago. The group then handed over the statement of claim to the governor before embracing under another Aboriginal flag. Sir Eric shook hands and spoke briefly with members of the group. ------------------------------------------------------- RecOzNet2 has a page @ http://www.green.net.au/recoznet2 and is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/ To unsubscribe from this list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED], and in the body of the message, include the words: unsubscribe announce or click here mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20announce This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use."
