ABC News Fri, 25 Feb 2000 11:45 AEDT LOCAL NEWS : Australian Capital Territory First Aboriginal disease control researchers to graduate Australia's first Aboriginal disease control researchers will graduate today from the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health in Canberra. Eight students are presenting their research projects, after an intensive two-year course. The centre's director, Professor Bob Douglas, says the trainees have been working in the field, helping to define problems in Aboriginal health. Professor Douglas says the graduates' work will lead to better indigenous health policies. "We started this special stream for indigenous people because we recognised that if indigenous health was to improve...indigenous people themselves have to be in charge of a lot of research and collection of data that helps to make decisions," he said. 2000 Australian Broadcasting Corporation ------------------------------------------------------- RecOzNet2 has a page @ http://www.green.net.au/recoznet2 and is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/ To unsubscribe from this list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED], and in the body of the message, include the words: unsubscribe announce or click here mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20announce This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use."
