Thanks for the support. You know the time I spent with the People,
especially in Arnhem Land, were among the best I can remember.
I think Karen's approach is similar to lots of Australians, especially those
who have never had informed contact with Aboriginal Peoples. It is the
attitude displayed by John Howard. Watch next time he is with an Aboriginal
person, especially in the bush: he is embarrassed and literally at arm's
length.
It is fairly obvious to any body who has been to the Territory that it is a
world apart. It does not collectively think in similar terms to the South.
It is also fairly obvious that Karen has never spent any meaningful time in
the Territory.
I did not reply to her 'return post because I saw it as a waste of time.
When a mind is as closed as hers there is no one home. As was said earlier
her 'facts' are purely 'opinions'. This is reminiscent of the 'opinions' of
Hanson and about as empirical.
I am reminded of a 'session', which went late into the night in the
Alyangula Club, with about five police, one magistrate and my supervisor
arguing about 'one law for them and one for us'. Some of the rationale I
heard late that night reminds me of some of the statements contained in some
of these posts of late.
