ABC Online: Tuesday 7 March Mandatory sentencing report delayed till next week The release of a Senate committee report into the mandatory sentencing laws in Western Australia and the Northern Territory has been delayed until next week. The report into a federal bill to overturn part of the laws was due to be released on Thursday but will now be made public on Monday. The bill was proposed by Greens Senator Bob Brown and would overturn the laws as they relate to juveniles. The Prime Minister, while reluctant to take that step, says the Government is waiting for the Senate report before deciding its next move. Senator Brown says it is not a serious delay and the committee has decided to take more time to consider the issue. ************************************************************************* This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use." ------------------------------------------------------- RecOzNet2 has a page @ http://www.green.net.au/recoznet2 and is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/ To unsubscribe from this list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED], and in the body of the message, include the words: unsubscribe announce or click here mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20announce This posting is provided to the individual members of this group without permission from the copyright owner for purposes of criticism, comment, scholarship and research under the "fair use" provisions of the Federal copyright laws and it may not be distributed further without permission of the copyright owner, except for "fair use."
