Friends,
This morning Kip Enderby gave a wonderful analysis of the issues involved in
this vexed subject on Okham's razor this morning. Among other things he
pointed out that
what is the result is not mandatory sentencing but 'mandatory jailing'. I
think this gives the whole discussion a new twist. Maybe we could change our
rhetoric and label it 'mandatory jailing'.
