In a recent post to me you 'enlightened' me somewhat as to your views. I
suggested that you visit inmates in prisons and try to get to know them and
their lives. You posted back that, actual words not quoted, that you would
not listen to them anyway.
Now it seems to me that you have given your opinion. And that opinion is
that you will not listen to the other side. I believe that you rarely do
listen to the other side. Instead you have taken stances and, no matter
what you say, you are not prepared to move from those stances - no matter
what proofs can or would be given.
Some, including myself, have suggested that you read some of the histories
of Indigenous peoples and their oppression. You then state that you are a
working person and that you do not have the time to do such. Basically you
'cop out' (pun intended) whenever you are challenged to do anything except
state your aggressive stance.
When others say that Aboriginal people are not more criminal than others,
you then give examples such as the person who 'cheated' to get to a
conference and stated that it is all not fair. Your single example is
supposed to highlight our criminality (sic) and deviousness (sic). So, if a
single person does it then that is a symptom of a malaise in the whole
people - a sort of all (wogs, blacks, slopes - put your own prejudice here)
are the same aren't they? If one does it then all are guilty.
However, most of the examples you give are of personal issues I believe. It
almost seems a jealousy to me. Are there not non-Aboriginal people who rort
the system? Have you not met any of them? And if so, then why aren't all
whites criminals too. I believe it is because when a whitefella does it
then he does it alone - in isolation. But when 'the other' does it then
THEY do it, or so your examples would indicate to me.
Karen, you do not want to change your mind. You are symptomatic of so many
in the justice system. You are not about discussion or exchange of ideas.
You have joined this group to pontificate to us and harangue us and to let
us know that in your esteemed opinion we are all wrong and you are going to
prove it.
And all of the above is why you are so predictable and so boring. You will
not try to prove your arguments with intellect and with study and with
expertise. You try to prove them with bombastics and 'personally knowing'
someone who is really terrible because they do not share your morals. And
above all - to me - you show fear and loathing - but fear mostly. In some
ways I feel sad for you.
Everything I have said above is why this particular post will be my last to
you. I do not mind ignorance I can try to educate, I do not mind fear I can
try to calm and explain and bring light where there may be darkness, I do
not mind loathing we all loath something until we understand it. But I
abhor sloth. And you show sloth by not learning and even more by not
wanting to learn but by wanting to pontificate.
So now any emails with your name on them will be deleted from my reading
without being opened. I will be the better for it Karen because I will not
have to suffer the frustration of your ignorance and I will still be able to
read and sometimes contribute to this list and with the people on it who are
reaching out to each other to learn and make their mistakes and to
understand.
