  Stone prepared Wik
  10-point plan

The Northern Territory's former chief minister,
Shane Stone, says he prepared the Wik
  10-point native title plan.

In July 1998, the Prime Minister emerged from
successful late-night talks with the Independent
Senator Brian Harradine, to thank Mr Stone for
his contribution to the Wik agreement.
Following that statement, neither John Howard
nor Mr Stone explained what that contribution
  had been.

But Mr Stone's comments to the Sunday
program suggest he played a significant role.

"I sat down and set about the task of preparing
the 10-point plan whilst at the same time,
standing by the whole principle of native title,"
  he said.

"Now that was more than one particular state
premier was prepared to do at the time.

"I have never argued against land rights and I
have never argued against native title, rather I
have argued against the way it has been
  applied."
