I wouldn't get too hung up about this.  It is likely to be a more persuasive
argument than most others.  The trick is to get people into your corner.
Once they are there, even if for the "wrong" reasons, they will over-time
absorb a lot of the "right" reasons because they will be doing things that
are predicated on those reasons.  Most people actually learn kinetically -
that is  by doing - not by thinking.

In terms of motivators, greed is a bigger one than most and is more likely
to move people than appeals to altruism.  His argument is based on greed.

In the last Federal election focus groups showed that very few arguments
were effective against Hanson.  The one that seemed to work the best was
"She is damaging our trade."   In a slightly different context, this would
seem to be a variant of it, and rather than knocking it I think that it
should be adopted as one of the arguments that we all use.
