Hardly 'introduce" Graham.

Just a few from a multitude of examples-----

In the 'Age" article "Dodson shuns Celebration", prominent Indigenous
leaders including Patrick Dodson and Galarruy Yunupingu are quoted as
pushing for a 'formal agreement or treaty".

In the SMH article 'Man of the Land" journalist Debra Jopson says of ATSIC
Chairman Geoff Clark , "He wants to negotiate a treaty, setting out 'how we
each act in this country' ".

>From memory Hawke promised to negotiate a Treaty with Aboriginal people if
he was elected in 1983.

He was, but changed his mind and called for a ''Compact" instead of a
Treaty----hence we are now attempting a "Reconciliation" between the
Invaders and the illegally Dispossessed ( remember 'Terra Nullius") without
the benefit of a Treaty-----pretty hard call, I'd say.

No----the call for a Treaty is an old call ,Graham, but hopefully getting
closer to realisation .

Laurie.
