I agree Trudy.

It was not advertised enough for many people to know about it. I knew about
it but did not see much in the way of advertising or flyers.

Maybe not enough people knew the march was for non-indigenous
people to also take part in? --- Trudy

  NAIDOC march turnout less
  than expected

Organisers of this year's NAIDOC Week march
in Sydney are disappointed with the lack of
  response from non-indigenous Australians.

Organiser Trevor Close says up to 3,000
people joined the march from Redfern to Hyde
Park, celebrating the end of a week focussing
on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  cultures.

But he says he expected more to join in, given
the success of the recent Sydney Harbour
  Bridge Walk.

"It was actually quite disappointing," he said.

"We thought that people might have been more
sympathetic to the ingdigenous cause of the
day, but I was quite disappointed with
  non-indigenous turnout at the march.

"It was a big march, but it could have been
  bigger."

Earlier, police estimated the numbers taking
  part at around 200.
