The Sydney Morning Herald Clarification Date: 08/08/2000 Due to an editing error, a report on the ALP's Hobart conference (Herald, August 4) mis-stated Labor's policy on mandatory sentencing in Western Australia. The ALP remains opposed to mandatory detention for juveniles. During the Hobart conference it added to its platform opposition to the mandatory detention of "adults who commit minor property offences".
