You've convinced me Boltie Boy! You've finally won me over with that smug
little grin of yours and your obstinate rhetoric. (HS, August 14, 2000) The
Aboriginal cause cannot benefit in anyway from emotion! You speak of
honesty. Lets talk honesty.
You wrote that Justice O'Laughlin "could find no evidence" of "many children
being 'stolen'." But he specifically writes in his ratio decidendi summary
that "neither the evidence in this trial, nor the reasons for judgment, deny
the existence of 'the Stolen Generation.'" He writes this in his first
paragraph Boltie Boy. His first paragraph.
The Justice did recognise that, the Director of Native Affairs, Mr FH Moy,
wrote in 1950 "wherever possible it is the policy of this Branch to remove
the children from their native mothers as soon after birth as is reasonably
possible."
But don't worry. I'm sure you'll come up with some justification for your
little slip. I have faith in you! How's about you whip out the "no more than
10%" statistic for good measure. Or that removed Aboriginal children led a
better life than they could of in their own community (we'll just forget for
the moment that 43 of the 99 deaths investigated in the Royal Commission
into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody were of people removed from their
families.)
It was with limited resources Cubillo and Gunner had to prove to Justice O
Laughlin that they were forcibly removed. No easy task. OLaughlin even
concedes that none of the parties have been able to find any documents that
dealt with the reasons for the removal of the childrenAs it is, people are
dead and documents, if they ever existed, have been lost. The Justice had
to make a cold decision based on the evidence presented. Unfortunately, that
evidence didnt satisfy OLaughlins standard. Fortunately, there are 700
other cases in the Northern Territory alone that will give us a chance to
test the system.
Your condescending perpetual rhetoric, Boltie Boy, merely shows the world
that you and your kin have failed to look beyond the larger picture of the
Stolen Generations (yes, plural.) Hand in hand, with Little Johnny, you are
trying to lead our country into an abyss. Your lies can only hold on so
long. When it breaks Boltie Boy, you and your buddy Little Johnny, better
have more to hold onto than what youve got right now.
