Archie was the Medical Superintendant of Collerenebri(?) base hospital in
the 1960 and his angst at the infant mortality rate nearly drove him to
despair, read of it in his excellent book:
Kalokerinos, A. (1974). Every second child. Melbourne: Nelson.
I think he now works as an Hon. medico in an AMS in NSW.
