I think that the Oylmpics should be a time for a nation to celebrate but
hey Australia really isn't one nation. It says it is but there's no cohesion.
I resent that the world gets this lovely more often than not anglo cheesy
version of how wonderful and multicultural our nation is, when it is far
from being an accurate representation.
Aboriginal culture is so much more than presenting our art at international
events. The world has to know about Howard's stance on Indigenous issues,
how Indigenous kids in comparision to others aren't staying in our
education systems, how the government stills insists on passing the buck
when it comes to the Stolen generations.
And mainstream Australia needs to know this too. Maybe then we can all sit
down face facts and work out a way to live in this country with dignity and
strength in our cultures.
