I support Suxze's idea so how do we get it implemented? Not all who might sympathise with aboriginal rights issues are supportive of a 'broad' anti-olympic message. Maximum attention should be given to aboriginal rights, highlighting sympathy and support is being sought. Aboriginals have been waiting too long for such a major opportunity to receive international coverage. It would be sad to see confusion capitalised upon by our detractors...ie: Viewers see aboriginal athletes participating in the olympics (winning medals possibly); simultaneously they see aboriginal people protesting against the olympics? Some viewers might get the impression that the aboriginal athletes participating are doing so 'in opposition' to those aboriginals carrying anti-olympics slogans. In effect pressure might be put on those aboriginal athletes participating, to make media comment on this perceived 'conflict of interest'. What about...print a Protest Declaration to inform journalists/public of the abuses and injustices to aboriginal people via the resumption of neighbourhoods to build the olympic venues (forced removal, extravagant expenditure etc)? It can't all fit on placards easily and avoid sending a mixed message. A Protest Declaration can clearly defined that aboriginal people are not against the "spirit of athletic competition", but are outraged at the 'event' taking priority over 'aboriginal rights'. Deliver the Protest Declaration to all journalists and reporters ("particularly" staff visiting from overseas), and hand it out to the public along the march. Reserve highly visible placards to highilght the core message - support aboriginal rights. Keep the protest 'focused' on aboriginal rights and viewers will sense and appreciate the solidarity! Beware of diverting or confusing attention. Just my opinion, thanks for listening... Suze (PS I'm unable to reply to multiple recipients, some kind of isp restriction.
