Obviously, the Courier Mail is embarked on the same 'dirty -tricks' campaign
as Quadrant.
Articles by columnists Ron Brunton and Michael Duffy consistently push an
extreme Right view of Indigenous issues----this morning's articles by this
pair of propagandists are classic examples of the use of lies, half-truths
and exaggerations to push a line damaging to Aboriginal rights--the line
that everything is O.K. now, we are reconciled and anyone who says otherwise
is living in the divisive past---there is no need for a Treaty---that will
only cause division.
Duffy says , referring to Hayden's speech, " I didn't see one attack on him
for views that would have been shouted down not so long ago.
As if to symbolise this new mood of national reconciliation, the span of the
Hindmarsh Island bridge was completed this week".
So according to Duffy, we can all pack up and go home-----Austalia is a
reconciled society---no problems.
This is the line the Right are pushing coming up to the next election---- it
would be a major blow to Indigenous rights if this approach prevails.
