Hi there,

i just finished a Red5 0.5rc1 package for Debian / Ubuntu.

Get it from
http://dl.fancycode.com/red5/debian/0.5rc1/red5_0.5rc1-1_i386.deb

Use /etc/init.d/red5 start|stop to control the server.
Also you can set you JAVA_HOME and CLASSPATH for red5
in /etc/default/red5.

NOTE: logging is still unconfigured per default. Thus any output on
stdout and stderr is still fed to /dev/null.

WARNING: Red5 now _requires_ java 1.5!!! Keep that in mind when
upgrading.

Java:

java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

To easily get that java version in ubuntu breezy, add
deb http://ubuntu.tower-net.de/ubuntu/ breezy java
to your /etc/apt/sources.list
and do a "apt-get install sun-j2re1.5"
(if you pefer jdk the install sun-j2sdk1.5) and set JAVA_HOME to /usr.

Best regards,
Simon

ps: all the stuff required to rebuild this package is available at
http://dl.fancycode.com/red5/debian/0.5rc1/.
