Subject: [Red5] Introduction and problem with starting service

I’m one of the founders of Vidiac. We provide free video portals. Point your subdomain to us (video.yourdomain.com) and you get your own Youtube like site. We’ve got about 80k videos in WM9 and Flash 8 formats and currently are doing progressive download of Flash 8 videos. I’m looking forward to trying Red 5 for streaming our FLVs.

We bought a copy of FCS 1.0 a while back so that we can do webcam recording and got the sample code to run on the free trial FCS 1.5 but not on 1.0. So we are also planning on trying the webcam recording functionality with Red 5. We’re also about to release a free webcasting application based on Windows Media that we’ll likely port to Flash too.

I installed the 0.5 RC today. No error messages during install. The service is set to start automatically but when I check its status is not started. I click start and it starts successfully. Refresh the screen and it’s not started. Again, no error messages. Any ideas?

AMD 2600, 2 GB ram, Windows Server 2003 Standard 32bit, Windows Media Services, IIS and SQL Server 2000 are installed on this server. What additional information should I post on this problem? I didn’t have this problem with 0.4.
