first - yes, it's AS3. the AS3 app/red5 works fine with saving the mic into flv, but I can't get any info on the stream.
and I'm using 0.6rc1...
looking at the source files, I can see a VideoCodecFactory.java and SorensonVideo.java but no classes which seem to handle audio input
(except for rtmp.event.audioData)
does red5 currently support investigating audio streams?

I think its AS3
_microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone(Microphone.names[manager.audioSource]);
I also think the stream aware stuff doesnt work properly in 0.5 tarball, maybe he needs 0.6 tarball ? but then there is the problem with large file streaming, its a bit of a tug of war, im still trying to work out my problems so have had to revert back to 0.5 however the live streaming doesnt work as it needs features available in 0.6 or trunk :). Now i got problems trying to bring the latest trunk up in osx for testing.

Are you using AS3?
In AS2 you get the mic object like:
Microphone.get();

Hey list,
I'm trying to get some notification on incoming microphone streams,
user_mic = Microphone.getMicrophone();
