I don't know about anything relating to Red5 that would matter.

Metadata is one thing that you don't get with the VideoDisplay component.  They used to have an event dispatch for it in the beta, and then pulled it for the final - I have no idea why.  That and you're sure of what's in your code - you rid yourself of any unnecessary code you don't need.

it's a nice component however, so, it's not like there's anything wrong with using it.
