Hey all,

I've installed Red5 and subscribed to this list both about a week ago, and
am trying slowly to use/check it's features while reading the questions that
people send so I can get familiar with the features/questions/problems of
the users.

So far I've basically only set up and configured the server (IP, port,
directories, etc) and connected to it via a flash app using Action Script to
call an exported method of the Handler, following Joachim Bauch's tutorial
(that "add a+b" example) and some other video tutorials I can't remember the
site/author.

Anyway, since my next step is doing something related to video, I was
wondering if can Red5 convert from other formats to FLV. I mean, let's say I
have a source in raw AVI, from a video camera, or anything else (for example
MPEG2, AVI with DIVX), and want to stream it using Red5. Can Red5 read from
any of those formats (provided that my OS has the proper codecs installed),
or do I have to programatically somehow convert it to a known format to Red5
(such as FLV) so it can stream?

I hope I could express clearly my question.

Thanks a lot,
-Pedro Da Ros
