Its coming.

The issue now is that the in the last month or so, there has been a
bunch of discussion of how to really make red5 a programmer friendly
environment, particularly for getting started. The good news is that
Red5 in the next version, not .6 but .7, is going to be much easier to
get started with, and its going to have some good getting started
documentation. We cant really write the doc though, until these
changes are made, because the current setup and installation really is
not quite user friendly. For example, in order to program with it you
really need to download the source from the trunk and compile it.

So hold on, help is on the way! I fully understand your desire, as
asking the same question is what ultimately led me to managing the
documentation effort.
