I tend to disagree with this statement. On the surface of course, you are correct. However, while Red5 can do what these other servers do, it also can be used for a whole lot more than RTMP streaming. Red5 has support for Flash remoting including the new AMF3 protocol. It allows you to tap in to Java server-side APIs that are certainly not possible using FMS. Red5 also has a very different and vastly improved server-side API than FMS. Red5 allows users to code server-side logic in multiple languages including JavaScript and Ruby. Also, one can use Red5 as a sort of replacement for Flex Data Services. In fact we are heading in the direction of fully supporting the FDS feature set. > The clients that connect to these servers are the Flash clients.By using > a server like Red5 you can develop Flash clients that can be eg. > multi-usergames, stream live video (webcam chat), etc. > > For a nice quickstart video tutorial see > http://www.flashextensions.com/tutorials.php (the Red5 Tutorials are page 2) > At any rate, thanks very much for taking the time to explain to Carolina what Red5 is. It was a great explanation, but just a tad bit limiting. -Chris > > Carolina Nogueira schreef: > > Well, I want to known if the Red5 is a server-client application or is > > a client-client application.
