I tend to disagree with this statement. On the surface of course, you
are correct. However, while Red5 can do what these other servers do,
it also can be used for a whole lot more than RTMP streaming. Red5 has
support for Flash remoting including the new AMF3 protocol. It allows
you to tap in to Java server-side APIs that are certainly not possible
using FMS. Red5 also has a very different and vastly improved
server-side API than FMS. Red5 allows users to code server-side logic
in multiple languages including JavaScript and Ruby. Also, one can use
Red5 as a sort of replacement for Flex Data Services. In fact we are
heading in the direction of fully supporting the FDS feature set.

Carolina what Red5 is. It was a great explanation, but just a tad bit
limiting.
