I've switched my forum video player from progressive FLV download to Red5 streaming video, and everything seems to work very well. I'm impressed with how quickly the Red5 server responds to changes in the streaming video play position!
Here's a sample message with 3 video players streaming video from my Red5 server: http://atv.bounceme.net/atvForums/messageDisplay.php?topicID=247 My Red5 server is a 3.0ghz pentium 4, and my webserver / internet gateway is a pentium 2. If all my hardware were up-to-date, I'm sure the application would work much better! I've also been making some progress with Storm's Video Conference application. I followed Storm's instructions for installing his Video Conference application, but due to my ignorance, and wanting to do a "clean" install, I did an "ant clean" before starting the server with "ant server", which wiped out the Application.class file before the server even started. So, the net effect was that anyone who visited my previous link only got a local connection instead of a shared one. I think I've corrected the above problem, but I'm concerned about providing a link to the application at this time because the current state of the application crashes FF and IE when stopped - browser closed - browser opened- then application restarted... could be related to an IP addressing problem I'm having - I really don't know the cause at this point. I am really in awe of how much there is to learn about building video applications on the web! _______________________________________________ Red5 mailing list [email protected] http://osflash.org/mailman/listinfo/red5_osflash.org
