Ok another dan false alarm, copying the client cert over is fine as long it was signed with the server cert. The problem I face now is trying to add the auth login details on the jconsole command line. Osx jconsole, gives the option to readd the login details, jconsole doesnt, only an option to retry connection or cancel then have to re-enter.
